In lieu of an expensive textbook, this website serves as the primary resource for Prof. Mosterd’s MUS 100 – Jazz Appreciation course.  This includes interactive listening guides, supplemental videos, interactive examples and simulations, etc.

Most of its resources are only available to current students, but public ones can be accessed on the Open Resources section of the site.


About Prof. Mosterd

Prof. MosterdProf. Mosterd is the Assistant Director of the Center for Teaching & Learning, the Coordinator of eLearning Design and Delivery for Continuing and Distance Education, and the TechFellows Program Manager at the the University of South Dakota.  Additionally, he is an adjunct professor for the Department of Music at USD, where he teaches Western music history and jazz history, but has also taught in the areas of instructional design, distance education, web design and development, and robotics.

Prof. Mosterd also serves as the Regents Fellow for e-Education Initiatives with the South Dakota Board of Regents.  In this role, he provides academic leadership of various technology initiatives of the state public higher education system.

An active researcher, Prof. Mosterd specializes in the use of technology in instructional settings, especially in music.  He has developed a number of interactive music tools and games, aimed at remedying specific pedagogical issues, which have had a measurable impact on student success in his courses.
